Back to School / Senior Projects
It is hard to believe that school is starting already. So to all of of the children and teens in the neighborhood, good luck on your upcoming studies. Have a prosperous and great year of intellectual and personal growth. Study hard and make us proud. Most of all, do your best.
On the note of school, in addition to keeping our eye out out for neighborhood kids who may be struggling in school and helping connect them with resources to help, let's also find out if any Juniors or Seniors at Cordova High might be interested in doing their Senior Project on something related to Cordova Towne. If you didn't know, each Senior has to do a "Senior Project" that encapsulates an element of service/research and a certain amount of hours. This is serious business really because the project is a prerequisite to graduate and must be presented in front of a panel too. In light of Cordova Towne then and our goal in the neighborhood to communicate well as a neighborhood and build dynamic community, wouldn't it be great to see students take pride in our neighborhood and to actually get to spend hours developing something that would benefit part of or the entire neighborhood? Just a thought.... So if you are a student or know of a student, start talking with others in the neighborhood about this if you have any interest. The student would need to come to the table with an idea or dream, and then an adult or group of group of adult neighborhood leaders can monitor the student's progress and help give any needed direction. Students would have to work hard and be self-starters. The adult leaders would not be doing the work for the students, but would however be available to the students with support and coaching.
