Walking Nights # 3: The End

The Walking Nights series came to an end last night as we did our final event. There are of course more events coming up for the neighborhood (Volleyball next Wednesday), but these ones got us started and they were a HUGE success. The events had a good draw of neighbors, they gave us some excercise, and they have "got the ball rollin'" so to speak in terms of living out a tangible vision for the neighborhood. The great thing is that this series of events was a beginning for us to connect as neighbors. So many of us have wanted to build relationship and this has therefore played a role in bringing us together. Congratulations to all who attended and for all who have begun to take initiative in our neighborhood to build community, know other residents, and use their abilities and passions for the sake of the neighborhood. And this whole thing was so much fun- much laughter and hanging out until dark each time and kids having a blast.

Other successes as a result of Walking Nights include: relationships being built, a growing neighborhood email list, quite a few additional businesses listed on the website, partnership with the Grapevine as we had publicity, further relationship built with the Mayor, some residents being further resourced with how to interact with Code Enforcement, neighbors looking to find practical ways to take care of those who need help, and I'm sure others. Gotta run for now.

Enjoy some pics from last night.
